A chronicle of the customs of 1940s Brazil. The King of the Night portrays Tezinho, a young bohemian who, after having his heart broken, falls in love with two sisters and ends up getting involved with a prostitute known as the Queen of the Night. Alone, a lottery ticket seller on the streets of a totally different and modernized São Paulo, Tezinho recalls his glory days in a nursing home.
