In Kharkiv, Ukraine, 12-year-old Niki lives with his family in a subway station, to escape from the war on the surface. To leave that place and walk under the sunlight is a mortal danger - this is why Niki is not allowed to leave the underground. A new world opens up to him when he meets Vika, an 11-year-old girl who also sought protection in the station. As their bond strengthens, the children find the courage once again to feel the sun.
