Kaori, an alloromantic/asexual, meets Takeru and begins to feel differently than anyone she has ever known. Kaori and Takeru plan to register their marriage shortly. They travel to a seaside town before the registry, but there is no contact between them as if they were lovers, and their relationship seems somewhat like that of siblings or parents and children. One day, when they are close to getting engaged, Takeru dies by suicide. Kaori, who believed she was the most understanding person for both of them, has since then stopped opening her heart to others as she did before she met Takeru. Kaori invites Nakano, a writer and Takeru’s best friend, to go with her to the place where Takeru died. Kaori and Nakano travel around the city to get to know the Takeru they do not know...
