Alila (2003)
Sobre o filme
In a condominium between Tel Aviv and Jaffa, old Schwartz leads a quiet existence and gets on well with his neighbors. Young Philippine drops round regularly to take care of him. Peace, however, is soon to be threatened. Engineer Ezra and his ex-wife Mali are having trouble with their son Eyal, who deserted from the army and has sent no news for some time. A young lieutenant, Hezi, rents one of the apartments for his mistress, Gabi, Mali’ best friend. The couple is noisy making love and this bothers Schwartz. The situation becomes untenable when new residents start building a house in the garden. Schwartz tries to remove the squatters. Meanwhile, Ezra goes, desperately, in search of his son all over town. Neither his ex-wife, nor Ilan, his new companion, can calm him down. An incursion of director Amos Gitai into dramatic comedy after the recent trilogy of strong political and religious content consisting of Kedma (26th Mostra), Kippur, and Kadosh (26th Mostra).
