Torge is a self-confident teenager, famous for his success with the girls, with an enormous facility for making friends. Most times, he is the one to take the lead in a circle of friends and attract others to the group. All of this, however, changes when he loses his leg in an accident. He can not cope with his handicap and becomes cynical and bitter as a result, plunged deep into emotional conflict that threatens to destroy him. Even Lisa, a girl in love with him, keeps away, as do each of his friends. But when Torge realizes that to lose a limb is worse than losing his friends, he finds the strength to come to terms with his condition.
