Benji Rubin is a young surgeon who works in a hospital in Tel Aviv. Lazar, the hospital administrator, asks Benji to accompany him on a journey to India where he is going with his wife to try and bring back his daughter. She went to India for spiritual enlightenment, but has come down with an infectious disease. Although Lazar has invited Benji along for his knowledge of medicine, he is to play new, unforeseen roles for the family. Based on a novel by Abraham B. Yehoshua.
