Rose – an extroverted aestheticist who has just put an end to a romance with a violent man – and Felix – a single executive with only time for work – meet in a waiting room at the airport during a strike. She is off on a holiday to Mexico, travelling economy class. She does not expect to fall in love so early after the trauma of her last romance. Felix, by contrast, is discrete, taciturn, and travels first class on a flight from New York to Munich. There is supposedly a woman in his life whom he takes to be his girlfriend. He is in a state of depression and refuses to believe this. Rose and Félix did not expect to become seriously involved and do their level best so the affair will go no further.
