Hollywoodland (2006)

Sobre o filme

June, 1959: George Reeves, the most famous actor to interpret Steel Man in the adventures of the Superman series, is assassinated in his home in Hollywood with a single shot from a revolver. Reeves leaves behind his bride - aspiring star Leonore Lemmon - and millions of shocked fans. But his mother, Helen Bessolo, is bent on finding out about the circumstances that led to his death. She is out for justice or, at least, for answers. The Los Angeles police close the case, but Helen hires a private detective, Louis Simo. Louis soon discovers that Reeves was in the throes of a torrid affair with Toni Mannix, the wife of Eddie Mannix, an executive of MGM studios. This clue may lead him to the truth. However, truth and justice do not necessarily go hand in hand in Hollywood. Based on a real case, this is, even today, one of the greatest of Hollywood mysteries. Actor Jim Beaver, biographer of George Reeves, was historic consultant for the plot. Brazilian pianist and composer Marcelo Zarvos, resident in the United States, built up an intense career as author of sound tracks with credits that include, among others, Uma História de Futebol (1999), Kissing Jessica Stein (2001), Xingu: Land of No Shame (2002), The Door in the Floor (2004), and The Architect (2006).
