News of the construction of a power plant in the Javé Valley is of concern to the inhabitants of a village which is to be submerged by the waters of the dam. The population decides to write a document as a record of the great events in the history of the village. The problem is that almost all of the inhabitants are illiterate. The only one who knows how to write is Antônio Bia, the postman. Although he does not exactly enjoy a good reputation with the population, having forged some letters, the postman is assigned to the task. However, he encounters some difficulty in carrying out the job, for people can not reach a consensus on what version might be the real story of the place.
