O Agrimensor (2001)

Sobre o filme

Avedis, a Frenchman age 20, of Armenian descent, decides to visit the country of his ancestors. He makes his way there under contract with Clément, a surveyor and friend of the family, in charge of planning a road to link two towns in the south of the country. The film is part of a project to portray the Armenian community spread as it is the world over, inspired in the films of Serguei Paradjanov and Arthur Pelechian. According to Michel Klein, Armenia "is a country that must be discovered, for it is made up of people who are extremely sensitive and sensual. All we know is that the culture of these people is made up of foreign immigrants. We want to find out about conditions of life for the Armenian people today. We know these are hard times, mainly because this is a land of wild, inhospitable terrain". The film was awarded the Jean Vigo prize.
