The Day My God Died (2002)
Sobre o filme
A documentary on the sex traffic in children transported from Nepal to become prostitutes in India. The little girls are intended for bordellos, where contamination from Aids is as high as from 80% of the customers. Some of the little girls are kidnapped, others drugged, but the majority are sold by their parents, inhabitants of small miserable villages in the hinterland of the country. With no contact with their families, they are beaten into accepting prostitution, serviced by an average of 20 men a day. The director used a secret camera as a resource to gain access to the ‘cages’, the name given by tourists to the brothels. The film follows the trajectory of Gina who begins life as a sex slave at the age of seven; Arien, a prostitute from the age of twelve, the same age as Jyoti, raped, asphixiated, and forced to drink alcohol until she would submit and serve the men. Narrated by Winona Ryder
and Tim Robbins.
