Eidok is a shepherd, 17 years old, leading a monotonous life in his native village. He dreams he will find a more interesting situation than the unchanging routine of his day-to-day existence. The parents raise no objection to his wish to try a new life in the Arab Emirates, however, the difficult financial situation in the family obliges Eidok to work to help them. In spite of this, he makes ready to travel, but a short while before he is to leave, his father is murdered. Tradition obliges Eidok to seek revenge for his father, but he can not bring himself to attack the supposed assassin in cold blood. He begins to realize that to emigrate is not the ideal he imagined, and that it takes as much courage to stay on as it does to leave.
