A mysterious man returns home after an absence of 12 years and decides to take the two children he does not know, ages 15 and 12, on an eventful fishing trip that will be the source of new trauma for the boys. The film, in a masterly way, reproduces the mysterious universe of the adults, many times too cruel to be followed and understood by children. The narrative does not explain anything in a conventional way (who the father is, where he was for so long, what he will unearth in an abandoned cabin in the island in the lake, who he telephones). All is deep, crafty mystery, like the waters of the lake, one of the villains in the film.
