Superintendent Chessari is sent to a small police station in the outskirts of Rome, a difficult area with little supporting staff. The officer does not want to cause any kind of conflict, and devotes himself solely to routine operations that will not upset his plans of being promoted as soon as possible. A few of his subordinates, however, disturb his easygoingness, such as young Lorenzo, just recently out of the Academy, and full of enthusiasm and principles, or undisciplined police officers that do not miss a chance of breaking the law.
