Santiago is a 9-year-old boy living in the city. His parents were killed in a car accident, just when the dispersed family was about to reunite. He moves to the country to live with his grandfather, whom he has never met. Juan is a rough, silent, ill-tempered man - the reason why he failed his daughter when she got pregnant at an early age. He will now have to look after his grandson. Juan may get to understand the new reality, to accept and to love once more. At the same time, Santiago, as a child apparently devoid of pain, finds it easier to understand the new situation and his new home. Other adults that are to co-exist with Santiago include a fond, meddlesome old lady and a silent witness in wheelchairs. However, an unexpected accident within this context of unstable peace is once again to alter reality for this family.
