Born in São Paulo in 1949, where she studied cinema. She debuted as a feature director with the documentary "Getúlio Vargas" (1974) and, in 1977, began a fictional trilogy with: "Mar de Rosas" (1977); "Das Tripas Coração" (1982); and "Sonho de Valsa" (1987); which the 46th Mostra was exhibited in honor of the director, who was chosen to receive the Humanidade Award. "Paixões Recorrentes" (2022), the filmmaker`s most recent work, was also exhibited at the 46th Mostra.
