He is a Canadian filmmaker born in 1966. His first feature film, "Rude" (1995), was presented at the Cannes, Toronto, and Sundance film festivals. Virgo’s other features include "Lie with Me" (2005) and "Poor Boy’s Game" (2007), both presented at Berlin and Toronto. He also worked on the TV dramas "The Wire", "Monster", "Billions", and "Greenleaf". In 2015, Virgo directed and wrote the limited series "The Book of Negroes".
