He is a Canadian filmmaker born in 1966. His first feature film, Rude (1995), was presented at Cannes, Toronto and Sundance film festivals. Virgo’s other features include Lie With Me (2005) and Poor Boy’s Game (2007), both presented at Berlin and Toronto. He also worked on the TV dramas The Wire, Monster, Billions and Greenleaf. In 2015, Virgo directed and wrote the limited series The Book Of Negroes.
