Born in Madrid in 1981, he is the son of Spanish filmmaker Fernando Trueba. After co-writing the screenplay to his father’s film “The Dancer and the Thief” (2009), he directed his first feature film “Every Song Is About Me” (2010). He also made features like “The Wishful Thinkers” (2013, 38th Mostra), “The Romantic Exiles” (2015), which won the special jury prize at the Malaga Film Festival, “The Reconquest” (2016) and “The August Virgin” (2019), which received a special jury mention and won the critics’ prize at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. “Who’s Stopping Us” (2021), awarded at San Sebastián and Mar del Plata film festivals, and “You Have To Come and See It” (2022), winner of the special jury prize at Karlovy Vary, were both presented at the 46th Mostra.
