Born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1974. She studied psychology and German and English literature in Munich. In 2004, she directed her first short film, Hypochonder. She made the feature films Special Escort (2007), Colour of the Ocean (2011) which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and Hello, Again (2020).
