He has a PhD in cultural studies by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and currently teaches at the Florida State University. He is the son of a Brazilian mother and a North-American father. He produced and directed the full- length documentary Beyond Fordlandia: An Environmental Account of Henry Ford’s Adventure in the Amazon (2018). Stepping Softly on the Earth (2022) is his second feature film.
