Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1989. After graduating from Soore University with a Bachelor in Cinematography, Roustaee made his directorial debut in 2011 with the short film Monday. He also directed three more shorts and the feature films Life and a Day (2016) and Just 6.5 (2019, 43rd Mostra), presented at Venice Film Festival.
