Born in France in 1979. Syrian director based in London. She studied theater criticism in the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Syria and filmmaking at Saint Joseph University (IESAV) Lebanon. She made short films like Besieged Bread (2016) and Aziza (2019), winner of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize, and the documentaries Two Cities and a Prison (2008), Damascus Roof and Tales of Paradise (2010) and Obscure (2017). Her first feature fiction film, The Day I Lost my Shadow (2018), was awarded the Lion of The Future for best debut at Venice Film Festival.
