He studied cinema at Universidade Federal Fluminense, in Rio de Janeiro. He began his career as an assistant director of short films. He directed the medium-length film "Vênus de Fogo" (1992) and a few TV programs. His first feature film was the documentary "Lingua - Lives in Portuguese" (2003, 27th Mostra). He also directed "The Adventures of Agamenon, the Reporter" (2012) and "Serra Pelada - The Naked Mountain" (2013).
