The story is set in the fictional village of Ramgarh, terrorized by the ruthless bandit Gabbar Singh. A retired, armless police officer, Thakur Baldev Singh, hires two small-time but resourceful criminals, Jai and Veeru, to capture Gabbar and his gang. As Jai and Veeru befriend the villagers and fall in love— Jai with Thakur’s widowed daughter-in-law, Radha, and Veeru with the feisty horse-cart driver, Basanti—their mission of revenge against Gabbar becomes a personal one. The film builds to an epic showdown, exploring themes of friendship, revenge, and the triumph of good over evil.
